24th Annual U.S. Army Hispanic Games Set for Weekend Excitement at The ArmoryPublished by
Beginning today through Saturday, the Armory Foundation will host one of its most prestigious high school meets of the indoor track & field season: the 24th Annual U.S. Army Hispanic Games at The Armory’s New Balance Track & Field Center in Washington Heights. Saturday (January 6) is the most anticipated day of this annual two-day high school track & field showcase. One of the signatures of this meet will take place during Saturday’s “Leaders of Tomorrow” award ceremony, where 10 high school student-athletes will be honored based on outstanding academic and athletic achievements. Top female student-athletes: Thelma Davies – Girard College, PA: US#1 at 60 meters. Reigning NYRR Millrose Games 55m dash champion. Will contest the 55m and 200m dashes. Katherine Lee – Shoreham-Wading River, NY: 4th at Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships. US#4 at 800m. Will contest the mile. Sophia Myers – Queens High School of Teaching, NY: US#1 at 55m hurdles. Abby Norwillo – Pittston, PA: US#2 in the pole vault. Marine Corps Holiday Classic meet record holder. Top male student-athletes: Carlon Hosten – Taft Educational Campus, NY: US#4 at 55m and 300m dashes. Will contest the 200m and 400m dashes. Kyle Garland – Germantown Academy, PA: US#1 and 55m and 60m hurdles and the high jump. Will contest the 55m hurdles and the high jump. Charles Crispi – Monsignor Farrell, NY: US#4 in the pole vault. Ethan Fogle – Carroll, DC: US#7 at 300 meters. Will contest the 200m and 400m dashes. Harry Sharp – 15-year-old from St. Patricks College (HS) in Australia and is the U17 Australian record holder in the 2000m steeplechase. Will run in both the two mile and mile steeplechase. WHEN: The U.S. Army Hispanic Games begins TODAY at 5 p.m. through approximately 10 p.m. The meet continues on Saturday, January 6 at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to continue through 9 p.m. The U.S. Army Hispanic Games will be broadcast live via RunnerSpace + Plus. Live results can be found at results.armorytrack.com. The Leaders of Tomorrow ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1:25 p.m. on Saturday.
